Help change Wal-Mart's anti-family policies
Wal-Mart faces the largest gender-discrimination lawsuit of all time, with 1.6 million women suing over unequal pay and unequal opportunities. Its managers have told women they “don't belong in management” and that they “can't manage men.” More recently, Wal-Mart has repeatedly denied military moms leave to see their children before they deploy to war zones.

Wal-Mart denied Olga Sanchez leave to see her son deploy to Iraq. The 24 year veteran was told her "commitment" was to Wal-Mart. Similarly, worker Susan Lyons was denied time off to see her daughter, who was scheduled to be on leave from the war. Wal-Mart told Susan that if her daughter's deployment upset her so much, her daughter "should not have joined the military."

We need to ensure that Wal-Mart respects the hardworking moms employed in their stores. This Mother's day, join our mission to change Wal-Mart's anti-family policies for the betterment of women and mothers across America. Sign our petition to CEO Lee Scott, and our three demands for change.

Here is the petition to Lee Scott

Mr Scott,

Wal-Mart has long fostered an inhospitable workplace for women and families. Recent changes to company policies have made the situation even worse, especially for working mothers and military families. We believe it's time for Wal-Mart to adopt more lenient policies, allowing workers to put their families first without facing disciplinary action at work.

Therefore, We, the undersigned, demand the following actions be taken to improve Wal-Mart's anti-family policies:

1) Acknowledge the problem

Enough workers have been hurt by Wal-Mart's unfair attendence policy. Retract the disciplinary actions taken against employees like Susan Lyons, and give families a chance to heal.

2) Let workers put their families first.

Honor our mothers and armed forces. Protect your associates' right to spend time with spouses, children, or parents when they are deployed to or return from war zones. Implement a fair scheduling policy that doesn’t punish workers for unexpected emergencies, family or otherwise.

3) Stand by the Law

Protect the jobs of those who are called on to protect us. Take action to ensure discharged veterans can return as Wal-Mart associates when finished with active duty. Stories like that of Sean Thornton, a veteran whose job at Wal-Mart was NOT returned after his tour of duty, have no place in America.

We look forward to your support for America's hardworking women.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Very unappreciative to the freedom we all enjoy

You should be hiring robots & not flesh and blood human beings with human needs.
M. Q. writes
I assume you have more flexible leave policies for upper management. Perhaps your sons and daughters will be filling the ranks of the armed forces, so the workers in your stores needn't be distracted by family members' deployment to combat. Or do you prefer that no one associated with Wal-Mart in any way should serve their country in the military?

WHY DO YOU TREAT YOUR EMPLOYESS SO BAD
D. M. writes
After learning about Wal-Marts practices, I have stopped shopping there.

To be treated as an outstanding employer, Corporate America needs to recognize the little people. That is where the work force that keeps America running comes from. Treat them fairly, and reap the rewards of support from within!
J. S. writes
I can not believe the way your company treats there employees, remember this times will get better and people wont need to work for your anymore

Walmart is the most unethical, un-American, anti-human company in the world. It qualifies for the "WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD" selection!!!!!!!!!!!!
T. K. writes
I work at a walmart in NJ, they really do not respect their employees, they treat us like dirt.
L. K. writes
Mr Scott, I don't know how you can live with yourself working for such an unethical company. You should be ashamed of yourself.
S. B. writes
It seems highly contradictory for Wal-mart to purport such a "family-friendly" image when the company is so unfair to mothers. It's time for Wal-mart to own up to their unfair actions.
M. M. writes
Say no more, I worked for them for 5 yrs. For health reasons, my Dr. said for me to go part time & not at the service desk. The store manager refused & I had to quit.
S. N. writes
you people make me sick i am just wondering do you even consider yourselves humanbeings.
A. W. writes
Wal-Mart truly has appaling policies and practices, including their lack of fair practice in communities and their buying from sweat shops in China and other developing countries.
J. W. writes
People first, then money, then things. I think management seriously has its priorities screwed up.
S. K. writes
Not only has the value gone down in how Family Is First, but the quality of the products that Wal-Mart chooses to sell has dropped drastically! I think all who are in it for the money first should learn a hard lesson about how quickly money can come and go and make you reap everything that you have sown 7 fold!
M. L. writes
This company has always treated people unfair.
S. K. writes
I'll do what ever it takes to get this filth out of our world!

I worked for W-M for 14 1/2 years and the last store I worked at did me some what the same as the others except my daughter was not in the service. She had come from IN to visit and I was in Knoxville, TN. I had taking vacation days to spend with her and they called me in to take care of a problem that they should taken care of. I was the dept. manager so they call me. One of the girls needed to go home for a sickness and they didn't want to handle it. I was very upset and my daughter was too. After I complain enough they got someone to come over and help until the next person came in to work. I could tell you other times but I think you get the message.
P. J. writes
Enough already, of this unpatriotic, appauling , and cruel behavior!!! Shame, SHAME on you, WalMart! How can you let this go on, Lee Scott? How can you live with yourself?
B. W. writes
Recognize the truth and be part of a solution. Stop being the problem.
S. H. writes
It is a disgrace how your company treats women; you must embrace the community and all of its members to really do any good in this world and I suggest you start doing so.

P. R. writes
Wal-Martis the worst company to work for, in the world. They are greedy individuals who do not care about their customers, employees, or their families.
M. W. writes
It's ridiculous how they treat their employees both here and abroad. Ever since I watched walmart high I have not stepped foot in a walmart again! I hope that they get the message! Keep spreading the word! and keep up the GREAT work!!!
S. W. writes
I thought walmart was claiming family values when they required censored versions of films and music.

C. M. writes
Sam Walton must surely be spinning in his grave to see what you've done to his company. Not only did you completely abandon his "Made in America" philosophy, your treatment of employees is dispicable. How can you NOT give parents a couple of days off to see their children before they're deployed to a war zone? Personally, I don't give a rodent's rear end how low your prices are...when they come at the expense of human dignity, it's not worth it.

If these kind of practices are allowed to continue by buisiness, you to could eventually become a victim.

Wal-Mart is outrageous. After viewing the documentary "Wal-Mart High Cost" ,and doing some research on the internet...I have decided to boycott the superchain and tell everyone I know to consider doing the same. Mr. Scott, if you are listening...America is telling you to change your ways.

S. M. writes
The attitude of Walmarts employees is dispicable. They learn this behavior from the top down. Having first hand knowlege of how they treat their employees I think their childish and "I'm" the important one deserves a spanking. The people that they have employed are there to feed their families and there is NO EXCUSE for such poor behavior. I seriously try not to shop at Walmart. There are other stores that offer good prices and people are appreciated. Thyey need to take a lesson from my boss. He is the best!!!

As a company who supports a party of "family values" you show your (and its) hypocrisy by failing to give your employees time off to see their kids off to war: some of whom will not return at all. Shame on you, China, Bush and the GOP!
S. S. writes
As a former 20 year manager for the company, I was subject to the same type of accusation and the exact words were when I challenged the harrassment "maybe you don't belong in the busines".
