Help us hold Walmart accountable for the tasteless, possibly illegal political meetings held nation wide
Ideological indoctrination, voter intimidation, and political scare tactics: we all expect it from the talking heads on TV, even our parents or religious leaders. In America, this is all fair game. However, when our employers draft us as pawns in their political game, it isn't fair at all.

This summer, Wal-Mart management has held mandatory meetings across the country, all with one purpose: to intimidate associates into voting Republican. These mandatory gatherings are Wal-Mart-sponsored rants against Democrats, Barack Obama, and legislation that allows workers to vote for or against representation.

Today, we want to set the record straight. Regardless of your political affiliation, your employer has no right to tell you how to vote. Not only are Wal-Mart's actions here immoral, they may be patently illegal, and they warrant a federal investigation.

Either way, Wal-Mart must be held responsible for these outrageously inappropriate meetings. For that, we need the whole story. We need your story. If you have attended one of Wal-Mart's political meetings, we truly want to hear about your experience.

Please tell your story today, and sign the petition for an FEC investigation into Wal-Mart's political meetings.

We have received calls from other associates and their stories are very similar. As one worker put it, “they were telling me how to vote.” Another Wal-Mart worker, Beth from Alabama, was told by Wal-Mart management that if she “voted for John McCain, then everything would be okay.”

Wal-Mart is trying to eliminate the vibrant political debate that is essential to the American spirit. The message from Bentonville is clear: not only will you work the “Wal-Mart Way,” you will vote the “Wal-Mart Way.” Nothing could be more un-American than that.

Help us fight Wal-Mart's abuse of its workplace authority. If you've attended one of Wal-Mart's political meetings, tell us about it. No detail is too small.

Write your anonymous story today, and demand an FEC investigation

You don't have to let Wal-Mart use you as a pawn in their political schemes to boost big business. You can help keep America's democratic values alive in your workplace.

Speak out today. We're here to listen.

As an walmart associate i experience the everyday drama that goes on in the store i work in. Most of the management team are oblivious to what goes on in the store. Ive came to the conclusion that store number xx47 is the worst.Everyday its a new way to do this or do that nobody is on the same page as a team. Whats surprising is that the only time the store manager speaks to her associates is when the District Manager visits the store. We dont make profit we're not getting a bonus however we still are pressured to push these credit cards when the economy is suffering at this moment. I've worked for this company for three years and it has gotten out of hand....Im ready to move on and find a better paying job because the money I make is not making ends meet. They also nag us about overtime but yet dont wanna pay us its ridiculous that store is a joke. More to come from xx47 where the drama never stops its a SOAP OPERA

as a former wal-mart associate i can tell you that they pressure you to vote one way or another no matter if it is a vote on whether to have a lunch break or elections,if an investigation does come about it will have to be very thorough because wal-mart isn't new at this and they are very sly about how and when they pressure

this is wrong.

While at a mandatory market meeting, my boss the market human resource manager began talking about the election and why we need to vote for mccain and why he was voting for mccain this all made me very uncomfortable and was highly inappropriate for this type of business environment-this was actually during the actual meeting and not during breaktime

I'm not surprised by this. We wonder why the middle class is shrinking, the economy is losing ground, fuel prices are rising (thanks in no small part to a commodities-greedy surging Chinese middle class propelled largely by the Wal-Marts of the world). Wal-Mart has a lot of answering to do about how their "everyday low prices" have shaped the disappointing world we see before us.

How long to the workers at Walmart have to be intimidated before our govenment steps in to stop it. I'll tell you how long...until Obama is elected and he rips thier guts out...that's how long. Big Sam and his little Nazi's should be afraid...justice for the worker is coming!

I do not work for Wal-Mart and never will - thank goodness! I support their workers

Wal-Mart is NOT above the constituition. What they are doing is NOT okay. It is wrong and deliberate and illegal.

Wal-mart should be glad I no longer work for them. My boss would have gotten one hell of a tongue-lashing for trying to stick his head into my politics.

I think that this is BS. What happend to freedom of speech and the right to Vote....

Wal Mart intinidation tactic being examined right now? Is the FEC being paid by Walmart to ignore it? This also brings up another point, that Wal-Mart/Sams Clubs specifically is in violation of EEOC Laws/Federal Laws to protect workers. They take a Level 3, and require them to work in the position of a Level 4, and refuse to pay them the difference in pay for that position. The Law states: An Employeer can have a employee work in a position/Level lower than their position as long as they pay them the scale for their current position. But an Employeer cannot require/Request an Employee to work in a position Higher than their current position/level without paying that Employee the payscale for that position. At Sam's Club 8119 Pensacola they are doing just that, Requiring Parttime employees to work at full time positions, at a Level of 1 or 2 Levels above their current Level, and only paying the Parttime scale for their current Level. I demand a complete investigation Not just by the FCC on their Dictator Tactics, but by the Federal EEOC to force complience with the Law. Both of these tactics are Illegal

I work at store #410 in Murray, KY and I have not experienced any political "talks" at all. Our store is all about "the store" - how can we get our job done and do it more effectively? The workers at my store are more concerned about how big their next bonus could be rather than Wal-Mart's political agenda. That is my observation and experience. Thanks for all you do!

i was at one of these meetings . store 2588 north versailles, pa. we were told if we wanted a future with walmart we needed to vote for mccain. i am part of the democratic party but regardless who are they to tell us how to vote. to me this is a threat to walmart employees and top management should not get away with this. employees need to rethink about working for companies like walmart. i am a free american with the right to vote how i choose.

I refuse to shop at Walmart. I disagree with the way they treat their empoyees, my mom's best-friend worked as a greeter and died of a heart-attack at work a couple years back. Walmart did nothing for her or her family. Nothing. Because of Walmart the wages of hard-working Americans have gone done--companies do not offer affordable health insurance--workers cannot form unions--workers are given only "part-time" hours so they do not have to pay benefits. They are a world-wide disgrace. they abuse American workers ans well as workers all over the world. They are the largest retail company but now all companies follow suit because Walmart can afford to impliment laws and find loop-holes to screw workers --other companies follow. They have devoled the American Dream because it is all about profits to them not people. DIVIDED WE WILL FALL.. WAKE-UP WALMART. pay a fair living wage with affordable benefits. Valerie Bradshaw

Ever since our city fathers in Grand Island, Nebraska agreed to allow WalMart to open not one but 2 Super WalMart stores in our city, I have refused to spend a single dime in either WalMart store. Soon after they opened both stores, our favorite Albertson's grocery store closed its doors. Cashiers at the Albertson grocery store were earning $11.50/hr, 40 hurs per week, plus full benefits. The new Super WalMart hired cashiers at minimum wage, 28 hours a week, and no benefits. Needless to say, being a working man all my life, I have refused to give WalMart any business at all!
