This summer, Wal-Mart management has held mandatory meetings across the country, all with one purpose: to intimidate associates into voting Republican. These mandatory gatherings are Wal-Mart-sponsored rants against Democrats, Barack Obama, and legislation that allows workers to vote for or against representation.
Today, we want to set the record straight. Regardless of your political affiliation, your employer has no right to tell you how to vote. Not only are Wal-Mart's actions here immoral, they may be patently illegal, and they warrant a federal investigation.
Either way, Wal-Mart must be held responsible for these outrageously inappropriate meetings. For that, we need the whole story. We need your story. If you have attended one of Wal-Mart's political meetings, we truly want to hear about your experience.
Please tell your story today, and sign the petition for an FEC investigation into Wal-Mart's political meetings.
We have received calls from other associates and their stories are very similar. As one worker put it, “they were telling me how to vote.” Another Wal-Mart worker, Beth from Alabama, was told by Wal-Mart management that if she “voted for John McCain, then everything would be okay.”
Wal-Mart is trying to eliminate the vibrant political debate that is essential to the American spirit. The message from Bentonville is clear: not only will you work the “Wal-Mart Way,” you will vote the “Wal-Mart Way.” Nothing could be more un-American than that.
Help us fight Wal-Mart's abuse of its workplace authority. If you've attended one of Wal-Mart's political meetings, tell us about it. No detail is too small.
Write your anonymous story today, and demand an FEC investigation
You don't have to let Wal-Mart use you as a pawn in their political schemes to boost big business. You can help keep America's democratic values alive in your workplace.
